NEWS & NOTES

  • St. Marys has a high population of homeless animals, and SART has worked hard to find good homes for them.

    In the past three years, 46 kittens and cats have been placed, as well as 3 domestic ducks, 1 white goose and a turtle.

    The following desperately need good inside homes from loving families who would welcome and enjoy the addition of a pet to their homes.

    Homeless list:
    1 black 6 month old kitten (new on list)
    2 blonde and white 10 week old kittens
    1 gray mottled 7 week old kitten - HOME FOUND!
    1 8 week old white and gray kitten - HOME FOUND!
    1 6 month old black and white kitten - HOME FOUND!

    The 10 week old kittens are very healthy, eating regular food, litter box trained and are very gentle and loving.

    If you are considering a new pet, or a first pet, having 2 kittens together from the same litter is a great way to introduce pets into your home. Cats are not as needy for attention, and are also loving and fun when you have the time to play. All you need to provide is a litter box that is cleaned regularly, fresh food and water, and a warm place to sleep. There is nothing better at the end of the day than to walk into your home and be greeted by a loving pet. Having 2 kittens from the same litter provides comfort and stability for the kittens as they grow, and they have companionship when the humans are gone from home. Since they grow up together they will be friendly and playful with each other, and provide years of entertainment for the family. Please consider this!

    If you are interested, please contact Sue Zink at suesanimalrescueteam@yahoo.com.

    SART consists of several St. Marys area people who have the heart and willingness to help the animals in need. If you would like to become a part of this "team on call", please email and let us know.

    What to do if you find a stray:

    1. Don't assume that it will be okay;
    2. Be sure that it has fresh water and appropriate food;
    3. If you are unable or unwilling to take it in while a home can be found, call the appropriate authorities (Auglaize County Humane Society or St. Marys Police Department).

    If everyone would do a small part, the condition and well-being of our animals would be so much better!

    If you are contemplating opening your home to a pet, and are unsure, please email with questions and I will try to provide answers for you.
