NEWS & NOTES Nov. 6, 2002 -- Memorial High School DECA members recently captured twelve awards at the annual DECA District 3 Fall Leadership Conference held at Ohio Northern University. Those students winning awards were (front l-r): Kim Newman, second in job interview blue division; Lorynn Riley, second in job interview gold division; Scott Dieringer, first in marketing mathematics; Eric Kerns, first in marketing test; (back l-r) Anita Schwartz, fifth in public relations; Angie Dzalamanow, fifth in marketing test; Rob Coons and Luke Tompary, third in team management supervisory level; Travis Frilling, fourth in marketing test; Scott Vossler and Ty Widman, second in team management entry level; and Alicia Sanford, fifth in marketing mathematics. DECA is the co-curricular component of the marketing education class and provides a program of student activities related to marketing and management. Chapter activities provide opportunities for students to develop skills in the areas of vocational understanding, leadership development, civic consciousness, and social understanding. Newly elected Senior DECA Officers for the 2002-2003 school year are: (front l-r) Hannah McKee, parliamentarian; Angie Dzalamanow, secretary; Susie Schwartz, treasurer; Mindy Nuesmeyer, reporter; Brett Axe, president; Eric Kerns, vice president. Newly elected Junior DECA Officers for the 2002-2003 school year are: Luke Tompary, president; Aaron Torsell, vice president; Sam Steinke, secretary; Kim Newman, treasurer. (11/06/02)
