Ridertown Forum Philosophy ~ A non-mission statement
- The Ridertown Forums are made available to provide Ridertown visitors -- that is, people with an interest in St. Marys, Ohio -- an accessible means of expressing themselves. As long as the messages are kept relevant, informative or entertaining we believe visitors will return to read and reply to them. If there is a goal or object to these Forums, then, it is to attract visitors to Ridertown.
Hopefully, visitors are not intimidated to post replies to the Forums, but opinion is a treacherous pet, and we do make some effort to keep it on leash. Posts that we as Administrator think cross the line may be edited or deleted, and their submitters suspended or banished from the Forums altogether. At the same time, we find our members are for the most part responsible, intelligent people deserving of latitude and trust in their discretion. We do not wield our editing power lightly or often.
While not a requirement, we encourage the use of proper English in the Forums. This is not a chat room, those iniquitous ill-bred Babels of ignorance populated by profane and grunting slant-browed slack-jawed keyboard-challenged abbreviators. Our concession to short cut web-speak is allowing the use of those inane smilies; but we frown on them. Your words are important to us; they should be important enough to you to spend a few moments in their composition.
