It is interesting to note that Major Charles Hipp in three appointments served a total of 21 years, seven months, 19 days. Frank B. Shuffelton exceeded his period of service by about nine months, serving a total of 22 years, four months, before his retirement. |
For years the Post Office was located in the east room of the Koehl Building, now owned and occupied by The Leader Printing Company. In 1925 it moved to the Community owned Post Office and continued there until 1967 when the present Post Office was erected in North Chestnut Street under a federal lease program.
