Sixth grade students in Mr. Joe Ginter's class at Noble Elementary School participated in a five-week program sponsored by Junior Achievement. The program is called "Our World" and teaches the students basic concepts about global economic issues.
In the program the students learned about global trade, imports, exports, currency exchanges and marketing decisions based on a global perspective.
The class was divided up into six groups. Each group represents a make-believe U.S. company that is to manufacture a product in the U.S and then export it to a foreign country. Each group selected its own product and chose which country they wanted to sell it in.
The students were then assigned to come up with a marketing plan based on the international marketing issues discussed, including: Economy, Laws, Distribution, Culture, Competition and Level of Technology.
The groups provided information for a company web page which was used in presenting their marketing plan during the final lesson. Click on the links to the right to see the companies and marketing plans the students selected.
