McBroom Junior High School Philosophy
PHILOSOPHY OF MCBROOM SCHOOL
We believe each child is unique and must have the opportunity and challenge of growing within a healthful, positive and supportive learning environment.
We believe the purpose of education is to provide meaningful learning experiences for personal fulfillment as a productive citizen in a democratic society.
We believe each person must experience success to develop a positive self image and an abiding faith in his or her own ability to solve life's problems. Success must come daily and in varied ways. Through experiencing success a person can learn to deal with failure and to cope with life in a competitive democratic society. These insights must help the individual identify with his or her role in society and learn to respect the rights of others.
We believe the school is a "special place" where learning and growing are valued by students and teachers. Learning can take place in a pleasant, comfortable climate of success, while failure requires more supportive assistance in learning.
We believe the major factor that unites our students is the very diverse growth patterns, stages or emotional and social adjustment evident within our student population. Thus we must constantly strive to provide as diverse a program of curricular and co-curricular activities, challenges and experiences as the needs of our students suggest. It is through education and training in both mental and physical disciplines that students grow in self-confidence.
We believe a student must be prepared with language, reading, computational, physical and problem solving skills needed for success in the high school experience and as a productive citizen of society.
We believe encouragement and management of a positive teaching environment with respect for professional skill and judgment must be nurtured if children are to benefit from the maximum opportunity to learn.
