RADIO/TAPE & CD PLAYERS/TOYS

Toys may also be brought to school activities such as plays or school related projects. Students are not permitted to bring dolls, sports cards, and matchbox cars to school on a regular basis.
SCHOOL HOURS
The school day for students officially begins at 8:50 a.m., however, due to our bus schedule our students have all usually arrived by 8:45 a.m. Children are not permitted on the school grounds prior to the arrival of the first bus, (usually between 8:25 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.), unless accompanied by an adult, or unless special arrangements are made. The school is not responsible for the supervision of children arriving before the first bus. Dismissal for all Noble Elementary School students is 3.20 p.m.
CAFETERIA
Children should bring lunch money to school only on Mondays or Fridays, or the first and last school days of the week. These are the days where money will be collected in the classroom. Money for extra food items may be brought to school on the day the item is being served since it is paid directly to the cafeteria supervisor, Mrs. Fischer. Lunch money should not be included in a check for any other fees such as workbooks.
Children will be expected to eat most, if not all, of the food on their trays or in their lunch boxes. Children should also drink all of their milk or juice unless they are sick. Students are not permitted to bring pop to school for lunch. If the school menu contains an item that a child especially doesn't like, he/she may ask the cafeteria servers not to put any of that item on the tray. Please insist that our students are polite and display good manners in the cafeteria. They will enter the cafeteria in a quiet and orderly line and will eat lunch with their own class. Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria by the supervising teacher when they are finished eating. Children who drop or spill food are expected to assist the custodian in the cleanup process. Restroom usage should take place before entering the cafeteria.
EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE
If it is necessary for a student to leave school during the day, the procedure stated below must be followed:
1. Parents will need to send a note or call Noble School stating the time of release and purpose to the early dismissal.
2. Upon arrival at Noble to pick up the child, the parent will come into the office and sign the student release sheet. The secretary will summon the child from his/her classroom.
l. If the child will be returning during the school day; the parent is required to
come into the office and sign the time of return on the release sheet.
All visitors must report to the school office upon entering the building.
PLAYGROUND RULES
Pupils will play on the designated playground and field areas adjacent to the building. Children are not permitted to play in front to the building or near the parking lot. Children may not walk through the parking lot to get to the field-from the playground unless instructed by the playground supervisor. Children should also stay away from the parked cars in the parking lot at all times.
Playground areas will be used for activities for which they are designed. All kickball games will be played in the field and away from the building.
Playground equipment will be used for the purpose it was intended. Children are not permitted to stand up on swings or slides.
Fighting, name calling and teasing are not permitted, nor is the use of profane or abusive language.
Children must ask a playground supervisor for permission to go into the building during a recess period.
Baseball, tackle football, and snowball throwing are not permitted. Baseballs, softballs, golf balls or other hard balls are not permitted. Children may bring soft rubber balls, tennis balls and foam balls to school.
Playground supervisors are to be obeyed at all times. When the playground period ends, the supervisors will blow whistles and students will promptly line up and prepare to quietly enter the building.
All students have the privilege of using the playground during recess. This privilege will be taken away and further disciplinary action may occur if the playground rules are not followed.
DETENTION/DENIAL OF PRIVILEGES
Teachers sometimes require students to stay after school for up to thirty minutes to serve a detention for less severe discipline or to complete unfinished assignments. Teachers will keep children after school only after notifying parents. Under most circumstances this notification will occur at least one day in advance of the detention. Parents will be expected to provide transportation. In some cases, older students will be assigned to Saturday School as an option to detention when rule violations occur or homework is consistently incomplete.
The violation of school and class rules may also lead to denial of school privileges such as attendance at assemblies or participation in class field trips. Parents will be notified prior to the denial of privileges.
BIRTHDAY TREATS AT SCHOOL
Traditionally, Noble students bring birthday treats to school for their classmates. Parents usually bring the treats to school in the morning or early afternoon. However, older students are capable of handling the treats themselves if the food is sent in plastic food storage containers with secure lids. Baked goods such as cookies and cupcakes are quick and easy for children to eat in school. Parents should not send suckers. gum and bags of hard candy; The wrappers often end up on the floor or on the playground, and children cannot always eat these treats in a short period of time. Since unsupervised eating on a school bus is prohibited, we distribute birthday treats so that the children will be able to finish them before dismissal.
Another idea for celebrating a birthday would be substituting a class present for edible treats. Pencils and pens make good individual gifts, and with the input of the teacher a single class gift could be purchased such as a new library book or possibly a small game with the students name inscribed on it.
Although class treats are permitted, children may not have birthday parties at school. Invitations for birthday parties should not be brought to school unless everyone in the class will be receiving one. Parents or guardians may not have birthday balloons or flowers delivered to a child at school.
BICYCLE POLICY
Pupils in grades two through six are permitted to ride bicycles to school. It is recommended that students not ride if they have a long distance to travel on busy roads. Upon arriving in the morning, bicycles are to be immediately parked at the designated area on the school grounds. Students are not permitted to ride bicycles on the playground or in the parking lot before school begins. bicycle riders will wait until the last bus has left in the afternoon before leaving the school grounds. Bicycles parked at Noble will not be bothered at anytime during the school day. First graders are not permitted to ride to school unless special arrangements are made.
HOMEWORK POLICY
Elementary students need time for independent practice of lessons during the day. Homework is directly related to the instruction received during the classroom hours and will serve to increase students understanding and enhance their educational experience.
Students in grades one through six can expect to have some homework several evenings a week. Teachers are encouraged to coordinate assignments so that children are not given excessive assignments. Parents are asked to assist students where appropriate. Generally, homework will not require more than one half hour to complete. Occasionally, longer projects may require some home study over several evenings.
