ST. MARYS -- The McBroom Junior High School Eighth grade Power of the Pen Team will be hosting the District Competiton in February.

The McBroom team consists of Kim Neuman, Marinda Hanover, Mitch Hirshfeld, Samantha Steinke, Kay Quelhorst, Hannah Brautigam, Jill Colson, Dan Hollinger, Jenna Franks, Laura Hosek, Kim Strasburg, and Kelly Jo Zink .

This is a state-wide writing competition that consists of District, Regionals and State. The District will be in St. Marys on Feb. 26 when 20 teams from the area come together and write on 3 different prompts. The best writers will move on to Regionals at Piqua. These 12 writers meet every Wednesday at 7 a.m. and work on writing skills. Only 6 will comprise the team that goes to District.

"Competitive is the word to describe this team," according to Advisor Ronda Shelby.
