Community Foundation Announces New Scholarships

ST. MARYS -- The St. Marys Community Foundation trustees have announced several new scholarships grants for graduates of Memorial High School.

The Foundation has accepted funds from the Corn Belt Hybrids company in St. Marys in order to set up two $1000 scholarships and a $400 book scholarship for Memorial High School graduates. Applicants must be D.E.C.A. students who want to pursue higher education courses of study.

The Foundation trustees have also voted to use funds in the Dr. Douglas Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide a $500 grant for a Memorial graduate to study in the areas of psychology, social work and related fields.

A third new scholarship has been approved in the names of Emil and Onnolee Steva to replace a previous book scholarship. The new Emil and Onnolee Steva Scholarship Grant will be awarded to Memorial High School graduates who which to pursue higher education in music, language, journalism and business education.

The new applications and specific guidelines for these grants and other grants from the Foundation will be available in March at the high school office or at 146 East Spring Street.
