Priority Services Provided:

• Outreach I -- the personal outreach, consists of personal contacts with clients by our Outreach Specialist. During the initial contact home visit, the specialist will explain all available services in the county that will benefit the client, as well as gather information to insure the best possible service delivery.
• Outreach II -- the mass outreach, is accomplished through speaking engagements and the agency's newsletter, Senior Reflections, which reaches more than 1,900 households.
• Transportation -- Countywide transportation for medical appointments, grocery stores, banks, adult day care. Since 1990, out-of-county transportation for medical appointments only. All vehicles are wheelchair accessible. Volunteer escorts are available through other county programs such as Green Thumb, community services and general relief.
• Chore -- Seasonal needs -- lawn mowing, leaf raking, snow shoveling, etc. -- as well as heavy housecleaning. This service also includes essential errands such as groceries and prescriptions.
• Prescription Meals -- Begun in 1989, Prescription Meals help clients recuperate from surgery or illness. The temporary meal service provides two meals a day -- one hot and one cold -- as well as a weekly supply of groceries. The meals consist of special dietary considerations specifically ordered for the client by his/her physician. Funding is obtained through the United Way of Auglaize County.
• Information and Referral -- Information about and assistance with discount programs, like Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Ohio Energy Credit (OEC), Golden Buckeye and more. Extensive resource files available on a variety of topics. Legal aid appointments. Collect calls from seniors are always accepted.
• Socialization and Mealsite -- Weekly line-dancing lessons, ceramics, arts and crafts classes, informational speakers, cards, bingo, and more. Daily mealsites -- located in St. Marys, Wapakoneta and New Bremen -- serve an average of 50-75 meals per day.
• Carrier Alert -- A back-up system that helps keep a community eye out for seniors. Mailboxes are discreetly labeled with stickers. Postal carriers watch these mailboxes for an accumulation of mail that may indicate a fall or illness. ACCA does the documentation and all county post offices participate.
• Safe Return -- Helps to identify, locate, and return memory-impared individuals and their caregivers. Registered ID bracelets are logged in a database for retrieval. Law officer training conducted by ACCA staff, National Alzheimer's Association service.
• Vial of Life -- Makes medical information easier to retrieve for emergency medical personnel. Vials include a medical history form, tie-down strap, and instructions. Vials are available at the ACCA. This is a St. Marys Kiwanis initiated service.
• Friendly Visitor -- One of our newest programs, Friendly Visitor is designed to conquer isolation and loneliness through individual contact between the senior and a volunteer community visitor to socialize, read, write letters, etc. Volunteers are always needed!
