March 5 Press Release "On The Edge"

Technology and Communication in the Business World Today

Dr. James E. Sayer, Chair, Department of Communication at Wright State University, will speak on “Technology and Communication in the Business World Today” for the 3rd annual On The Edge professional development seminar being offered at the Lake Campus of Wright State University on Thursday, March 27.

Sayer’s presentation will offer an overview of the state of business communication today, especially as it has been affected by communication technology in the past 20 years. Sayer will also touch on the concern we should have today with the growing “digital divide” in society.

A professor and chair of the Department of Communication at Wright State, Sayer is now in his 29th year of service to the university. He is serving his fifth term as the elected president of the Wright State University faculty.

The day-long seminar, especially developed for the local business and industry community, is being presented by the Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, the Celina Rotary Club, and the Lake Campus of Wright State University, in cooperation with other area Chambers of Commerce.

From learning how to better understand why customers buy from you and discovering new ways to win over the competition, participants will also receive information from seminar experts on legal hiring practices, dealing with difficult people, conflict management, and assertiveness. Business professionals can gain an edge in creative problem solving and develop new people skills so necessary for success in today's competitive business environment.

The cost for the seminar, which is open to the public, is $50 for the full-day session that includes lunch. Also available are morning or afternoon sessions for just $35 each. Interested persons should contact the Chamber at 419-586-2219 to register today!
