March 13 News Release "On The Edge"

Juanita Wehrle-Einhorn - March 27 Seminar

Dr. Juanita Wehrle-Einhorn, Affirmative Action Programs Director at Wright State University for nearly 20 years, will speak on “Legal Hiring Practices” for the 3rd annual On The Edge professional development seminar being offered at the Lake Campus of Wright State University on Thursday, March 27.

Participants will learn why affirmative action is back in the news. Wehrle-Einhorn will discuss the difference between affirmative action and equal opportunity and who really benefits from affirmative action. You will also learn the “do’s and “don’ts” of hiring and be able to share your own ideas about how to simplify hiring without losing “equal opportunity.” Also discussed will be how affirmative action has been affecting hiring practices at Wright State.

Juanita Wehrle-Einhorn completed her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Kansas including a doctoral dissertation that examined the effect on both personal and professional relationships when women were first hired to do “men’s work” as regular police officers. Upon graduation she was immediately hired as the assistant director of that university’s Affirmative Action office and three years later was hired to direct the office at Wright State. Wehrle-Einhorn will help us stay ahead of the curve as it relates to affirmative action being back in the news again.

The day-long seminar, especially developed for the local business and industry community, is being presented by the Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, the Celina Rotary Club, and the Lake Campus of Wright State University, in cooperation with other area Chambers of Commerce.

From learning how to better understand why customers buy from you and discovering new ways to win over the competition to dealing with difficult people and learning conflict management, business professionals can gain an edge in creative problem solving and develop new people skills so necessary for success in today's competitive business environment.

The cost for the seminar, which is open to the public, is $50 for the full-day session that includes lunch. Also available are morning or afternoon sessions for just $35 each. Interested persons should contact the Chamber at 419-586-2219 to register today!
