The University Chorus of Wright State University-Lake Campus will present its 6th annual spring concert, “With a Voice of Singing,” on Thursday, June 12 at 7:30 PM in the Lake Campus Auditorium. The chorus is led by music director James Davis of Celina, Adjunct Instructor of Music and accompanist Linell Hertenstein of St. Marys.
The concert will include works from a variety of choral traditions, including “Wake Every Breath” by the early American composer William Billings, music by English composers Martin Shaw and John Rutter, “The Eyes of All Wait Upon Thee” by American composer Jean Berger, and “Ride the Chariot,” an African-American spiritual. Concluding the concert will be a selection of folk and popular music, including The Free Design’s “I Found Love,” “Tuxedo Junction” in the style of Manhattan Transfer and a medley of songs by George Gershwin.
Linda Goodwin of Celina, Betsy Kamin and Patrick Murray of New Bremen, Julie Lemieux of St. Marys, Rachel Powell of Rockford and Carolyn Stucke of Maria Stein will be featured vocal soloists. The chorus will also be joined by guest instrumentalists Cindy Hanover of St. Marys, piano; Beau Jones of Celina, cello; Bob Mayer of Defiance, clarinet; and Heather Topp of New Bremen, flute.
