Radio Radio in St. Marys June 28

MHS graduates Chris West, Jon Francis, and Nick Schweitzer (class of 2000) will be returning to St. Marys to perform with their band Radio Radio at the St. Marys Theater Saturday, June 28th.

The St. Marys band Dead Happy Face will be performing as well. The show begins at 9:00 p.m., doors open at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $4 with proper I.D. Must be at least 16 years of age to enter.

Additional members of Radio Radio include guitarist Dan DeHaan from Chicago, Illinois, and vocalist Mark Orlowski from Trenton, New Jersey.

Radio Radio is an emerging alternative rock band of the greater Dayton area rock scene. The band (which took its name from the Elvis Costello classic) is a relatively new group composed of five seasoned musicians.

Since 1997 the core members of Radio Radio have been developing a sophisticated rock sound, particularly influenced by the rock music of the eighties and nineties. Influences from The Replacements and the The Pixies, to The Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Bush can be heard in their music.

The music, as refined by song writer Chris West, has taken on a unique personality in and of itself. By featuring melodic guitar, solid chord structures and technical drumming, Radio Radio has created a unique sound, and aims to change the current state of rock. The response to the group's energetic live performances has been phenomenal, and their popularity continues to grow.

Radio Radio recorded their first demo in mid-January, 2003, at Cybertechnics Studios in Dayton. With more than 1,200 copies in circulation, the demo has begun to make great impressions and open doors that once seemed impossible to open.

"They're going to be the next big thing in Dayton," was the automatic response from 103.9-WXEG D.J. (and former MHS graduate) Jaysin Shoom. The outlook for the band is very promising. Their sound is spreading, and it's only a matter of time before we're all singing along.
