The Western Ohio Civil War Roundtable (CWRT) and the Lake Campus of Wright State University are pleased to present Dr. Richard McMurry, nationally known Civil War author and tour guide speaking on “A New Framework for The Civil War.”
The presentation will be held at the Lake Campus, 7600 State Route 703, Celina, Ohio, in the campus’ auditorium on Tuesday, July 8, at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for this special presentation.
A resident of Roanoke, Virginia, Dr. McMurry’s talk is based on his current book The Fourth Battle Of Winchester: Toward a New Civil War Paradigm. Thought-provoking and often controversial, McMurry challenges many popular notions about the importance of the Eastern Theater in the Civil War.
A former professor at North Carolina State University, McMurry now spends his time writing and leading tours. His other books include John Bell Hood and the War For Southern Independence, Two Great Rebel Armies, and Atlanta 1864: Last Chance For The Confederacy.
Membership to the Western Ohio Civil War Roundtable is open to any individual who has an interest in the Civil War. The group holds monthly meetings at which they have book reviews, discuss new discoveries and battlefield preservation, review history trips members have taken, and have special speakers on specific aspects of the War. For example, an upcoming meeting will feature a speaker from the Marion CWRT talking about the Battle of the Crater. The group also sponsors the annual Civil War reenactment to promote interest in the War.
Please join us for this highly entertaining speaker and an unforgettable evening of learning and entertainment. For more information about the presentation or about the Roundtable, contact Ike Coate, 419-586-2500 or email: icoate@adelphia.net.
