During recent graduation exercises, Donna M. Post, a Celina attorney and a graduate of Wright State University, delivered the commencement address to the 2003 graduates of Wright State University Lake Campus. Most graduates are residents of Allen, Auglaize, Darke, Mercer, Shelby, and Van Wert counties.
Post noted that “Wright State University never disappointed me. During my first two years at the Lake Campus, not only could I attend school close to home, but the $300 a quarter tuition was very affordable. And the university had an excellent reputation with satisfied graduates - a ‘name-brand’ university. Now as I look back over the past 17 years of practicing law, I see how quickly time has passed, but it all started here. And it all starts here for you, too.”
Post imparted three pieces of advice. “Know yourself, be prepared, be competitive. Secondly, control yourself. Present yourself well, know your little upsets and prepare yourself against them. Take care of yourselves. And finally, give of yourself, from your education, from your background, from your common sense. Join an organization. Make a difference. Learn to speak for yourself.”
In 1983, Post graduated summa cum laude from Wright State University with a bachelor of arts in history degree. Her first two years were completed at the Lake Campus. She is a 1986 graduate of Claude W. Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University, and has been a practicing attorney in Celina since 1986, engaged in the practice of general law. Post is past president of the Mercer County Bar Association and has been a member of the board of directors of Mercer Residential Services, Inc., for 15 years.
Conferring the degrees upon the graduates was Dr. Perry Moore, Wright State University Senior Vice President and Provost. Moore said, “We rejoice in this occasion and in all your future successes. We hope you will think often of this place and of Wright State University.”
