Marimbas in the Park Sunday
The 2003 St. Marys Rotary Club "Concert in the Park" series continues on Sunday, June 29, at 7:00 PM in Memorial Park Gazebo, featuring the Lima Marimba Ensemble. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held in the Performing Arts Center of Memorial High School.
The Lima Marimba Ensemble will entertain you with their unique arrangements of popular, jazz, classical, and Latin music. Now in their twelfth year of existence, they are one of West Central Ohio's most prominent musical groups, having serving as featured artists with the Lima Area Concert Band, the Defiance College-Community Wind Ensemble, and as guest clinicians for the District III Ohio Music Education Association conference. They are featured yearly in many outdoor concert series in Northern and West Central Ohio, and for numerous church and Christmas engagements. They are all members of the percussion section of the Lima Symphony Orchestra, and include area music educators, including St. Marys Director of Bands Dane Newlove and Parkway Director of Bands Richard Sherrick, and businessmen.
The St. Marys Rotary Club has sponsored the "Concert in the Park" series for the citizens of St. Marys for the past eleven years. The next performance in the series will be on Sunday, July 13, at 7:00 PM with the Greene County Adult Concert Band. This special performance will be held in the Performing Arts Center of Memorial High School, rain or shine! Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, a picnic basket, and get ready to clap, hum, or sing-a-long with all of the performances this summer!
Thanks, Dane Newlove
