New Pool Opens July 4th
   
   
ST. MARYS, OHIO -- The new St. Marys Municipal Swimming Pool officially opened on the 4th of July, 2003.
All of the new features are operational and in use, according to pool staff member Julie Sprague. Many of the new attractions are in view in larger photos linked by thumbnails on this page. Other new and/or improved features include the new pump and filter building, pool water heating equipment (for early-season use) and the renovated change rooms and concession stand building.
The separated swim lanes/diving area will allow swim team race and diving competitions and practices to be held simultaneously. While the water slide restricts use to children of a certain height, the wading pool and water park area is open to children of all ages.
"It's unbelieveable!" commented long-time pool employee Tom McCarthy, surveying the new facilities. "Very nice."
