Grand Lake Area Safety Council Donation

The Grand Lake Area Safety Council (GLASC) recently donated $1,000 toward the Western Ohio Educational Foundation’s (WOEF) Academic Excellence Scholarship Fund at the Lake Campus of Wright State University. Participating in the presentation were Safety Council steering committee member and Lake Campus Assistant Dean for Development Thomas Knapke, Council Secretary-Treasurer Pam Buschur who is executive director of the Celina-Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, Safety Council President Dan Schoen who is with Home Idea Center in Ft. Recovery, Lake Campus Associate Dean Gregory Schumm, and Council Past-President Lindsay Miller with Thieman Stamping. Other steering committee members are Leisa Arnett with WCORHA, Deb Gibson with Fremont Company, Keith Leffel with Crown Equipment Corp., Keith Martin with Auglaize Farmers Coop, Tom Southard with AAP, and Jan Tindall with Reynolds & Reynolds.
The association provides and coordinates information and assistance to industries in the two county Auglaize and Mercer area, sharing environmental, health, and safety compliance information and education for the workplace. Some of the programs held have been on post-traumatic stress, eye safety in the workplace, effects of sleep disturbance for the workplace, and Bureau of Workers’ Compensation rules and regulations.
Each academic year a $3000 Academic Excellence Scholarships is available toward the cost of 1st year tuition, and a minimum of $1,000 for the 2nd year, to a high school senior graduating with a grade point average of 3.0 or better, from each of 22 high schools in the Lake Campus service area.
