MARYS -- The St. Marys Community Foundation Board of Trustees gave checks to student grant and loan recipients at their annual meeting on July 22, 2003, held in the Eagles #767 meeting room. Grants totaling $31,900 were awarded to 37 students, with another $61,500 distributed as 58 low-interest loans. Founded in 1974, the Foundation began assisting education funding in 1978 with two $1000 student loans. Foundation trustees Alma Kuffner, Larry Shelby, Mary Anne Sheaks, Cal Caywood, Ed Pierce and Foundation Administrator Darwin Zeigler assisted trustee Ed Noble in distributing the grant scholarships and deferred-interest loans.
