Famous Old Time Music, started in Cincinnati in the early 70's by Harry Sparks and Mac Smith. The store sells Vintage and new instruments, instructs students, and hosts events. It was sold to Vernon McIntyre in 1984. Vernon, a legend in Bluegrass, has performed with Dolly Parton, Marty Robbins, and many others. In 2001, Vernon decided to open a second location just outside of Wapakoneta in the old Schoolhouse in the St Johns Community. His dream is to keep traditional style music alive and bring tourism into the area. The auditorium inside the schoolhouse hosts a variety of shows from Gospel, Bluegrass, & Country. Plans are being made to build an outside pavilion to host outdoor concert during the summer seasons. Additional plans for a museum for vintage instruments are also in the works.
Auglaize and Mercer County are home to many tourist attractions from the "Neil Armstrong Museum" to fabulous lakes and resort areas.
Thanks, Terri Church
