BAGHDAD, IRAQ -- Hello Ridertown!
I'm doing OK. It is hot, about 130 degrees right now. I'm working with the Iraqi Police and helping them learn how to run a police station.
I don't get attacked much where I am, because we are surrounded by infantry checkpoints. Just a few car bombs every once in awhile.
The news is full of crap. They tell you guys that things are quieting down here in Baghdad, but things are getting worse. Terrorist attacks are more frequent and more devastating. I went on a raid today of one of Sadaam's photographers. We go on raids a lot as MP's, but most of the time it's on bogus intel.
I'll be starting a new job in September; the river patrol. It sounds like fun, but the station gets attacked all the time when there are MPS there. I'll be also working nights, so I will definitely have some news for you when I start at the first of the month. The station is on the northern and western tip of Baghdad where a majority of the neighborhood is Sadaam loyalists.
I will try to write as much as possible about what went on here and how my day went, so Ridertown can let the rest of St. Marys know how things are over here.
When I come home if you would like, I will put a follow up of my tour over here and let you put some of my pics on the site. I have pics of Sadaam's palace, my everyday duties, aftermath of the war, car bombs exploding, the people, and everything else you can think of.
I will keep in contact and let everyone know that you can't take down a Roughrider, so I will return home safely to St. Marys.
