As an EnterpriseOhio Network campus, Wright State University Lake Campus has been allocated $50,000 this fiscal year in training grant dollars to be used for area employers. The dollars have been allocated from the Network’s Jobs Challenge Fund’s Targeted Industry Training Grant (TITG).
The TITG program was developed in 1999 to provide assistance to Ohio businesses to get the training necessary to stay competitive and become more productive. EnterpriseOhio network campuses partner with these businesses to provide the training and assessments to meet this need. TITG focus on two specific areas for assessment and training:
- Manufacturing employers, particularly smaller manufacturing companies employing less than 10 individuals and other, manufacturing-related companies that support and sustain the large manufacturers, and
- Employers experiencing a shortage of information technology workers and needing training and assessment services to address that shortage.
Each member campus receives an equal allocation from the TITG’s Jobs Challenge Fund at the beginning of the fiscal year, and funds are to be spent to provide workforce assessment, training, and related services in each campus’ particular service area. Depending on the number of employees, companies desiring this assessment and training are eligible for up to 75% of its determined training costs to be covered by the grant money allocated to the participating EnterpriseOhio Network member college.
It is the intent of the Jobs Challenge, Targeted Industries Grant Program to support the economic development of each enterprise Ohio Network campus, and thus training grants funds are allocated and spent exclusively within the Lake Campus’ particular service area. Wright State University Lake Campus offers a wide variety of business and industry training topics and can customize programs to fit the local labor market.
Lake Campus’ Julie Miller says that “Campus representatives are ready to assist employers in needs analyses to determine training needs and qualifications for these grants.” For more information please call Representative Miller at 419-586-0375, or Campus Representative Thomas Knapke at 419-586-0389.
