Kettering Alter 31 - Dayton Chaminade-Julienne 28
Taking a page out of St. Marys' new playbook, Kettering's Eric Frey kicked a 27-yard field goal with three seconds left Saturday night (October 25, 2003) to give Alter a 31-28 win over Dayton Chaminade-Julienne.
That result, coupled with a controversy about Cincinnati Wyoming's Friday opponent, Harmony Community School, resulted in the final OSHAA computer poll. The playoff contenders in the Riders' region are displayed below.
St. Marys, ranked third, will host the number 6 Cincinnati Wyoming Cowboys. The game will start at 7:30 p.m., Friday October 31. The tournament bracket can be seen here (.pdf file requires Adobe Acrobat).
Cincinnati Wyoming's only loss this season came in week 7, by the score of 42-12 at Reading, one of eight Division IV teams on their schedule.
A St. Marys win against Cincinnati Wyoming and a Bellbrook win against Germantown Valley View would set up a St. Marys/Bellbrook rematch of last year's first round playoff game, which the Riders won 20-13.
We encourage anyone with information on any of the teams in St. Marys' region to post it in the Ridertown Forums under Sports - Football - "Playoff Watch."
