A husband and wife team opened a chiropractic office in Fort Loramie on April 5. Drs. Jenny and Rob Huddleston opened Fort Loramie Chiropractic at 27 North Main Street in Fort Loramie as a way to care for the spines of area people.
Rob Huddleston, son of Charles and Peggy Huddleston of St. Marys, graduated from Memorial High School in 1995. He then attended OSU in Lima for two years for his Chiropractic prerequisite classes. Jenny Huddleston, daughter of Don and Sharon Finkenbine of Minster, graduated from New Bremen High School in 1994. She Graduated from Lima Technical College (James A Rhodes State College) with an Associate of Applied Business in Medical Office Administration. They both graduated with doctor of Chiropractic degrees from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. Rob worked at Arrowhead Clinics in Atlanta, one of the largest trauma chiropractic clinics in the country, he said.
The couple made the move back to Ohio to start their practice in a location where they knew people and the area.
“We wanted to come home,” Jenny said.
They had first contemplated putting their business in Auglaize County but chose to put their practice in Fort Loramie after searching the area for a great place to live and practice.
“Everyone in Fort Loramie was so warm and welcoming. We also saw a need for our services since there were no other chiropractic clinics in the town,” Rob said.
Jenny believes that having two chiropractors to work on patients will be helpful to their practice because it provides for more expertise in patient care. She knows that the husband and wife team will be a bit of a novelty as well.
“In this area, there are very few female doctors,” she said.
Chiropractic care deals with moving the bones of the spine and can help with a variety of problems, such as back pain, neck pain, headaches and earaches.
“We deal with the spine because it affects the nervous system,” Jenny said, “which in turn controls every muscle, organ, and cell in your body.”
The Huddlestons think that almost everyone can benefit from chiropractic care, not just those who are experiencing some sort of pain. They see it more as part of a preventative maintenance program for those who want to stay well, such as going to the dentist regularly.
“If you don’t take care of your teeth, you can get dentures. If you don’t take care of your spine, you can’t replace it,” Jenny said.
In the future, the Huddlestons hope to specialize in prenatal care, as well as doing on-site chiropractic care for its regular patients in their homes and places of employment. This may help alleviate the number of patients who cancel their appointments when they get sick.
“When you’re sick is when you need it to boost your immune system,” Jenny said.
Fort Loramie Chiropractic has a handicap accessible facility and will have office hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, Wednesday 7 am to 5 pm, and Friday 7 am to 3 pm or any other time by appointment. Saturday will be by appointment only. The Huddlestons remarked that the office hours are still flexible because they want to find hours that will suit most of their patients. To make an appointment, call 937-295-2212.
