Wright State University - Lake Campus welcomes Steve Moor, the new Coordinator of Student Activities/Athletics.
Moor, who comes to the Lake Campus with 33 years of related experience, holds a bachelor’s of science in health and physical education K-12 degree from Bowling Green State University, a master’s in guidance and counseling from St. Francis College, and a certification for high school principal/pupil personnel administration from the University of Dayton.
In a sense, Moor is returning to Wright State University; he was the Lakers’ men’s basketball coach from 1981-1985. He recently retired from St. Marys City schools after 29 years where he was athletic administrator from 1987 to 2002. Before that he worked for Continental Schools.
Awards that Moor has earned are the Northwest Ohio District Athletic Administrator of the Year presented by the Northwest Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the Blue Jacket Award presented by the St. Marys Rider Rooters Booster Club for Outstanding Leadership, and the Outstanding Leadership Award presented by the St. Marys Board of Education to those individuals who, according to the Board, “went over and beyond their duties in program development.”
Steve has only held the student activities coordinator job at the Lake Campus since May but he has already organized a number of activities, including a poker walk, a catfish tournament, the Spring Fling, and numerous pontoon voyages to different food establishments around the lake.
As to his future plans for the Lake Campus, Moor says, “I hope to develop an activities program that will keep students, faculty, and staff busy and to possibly expand the sports program.”
When asked about his most memorable times over the years as an instructor/teacher, he stated, “There are too many to mention, all the friends I’ve made over the years, the great working relationships I’ve had with my peers, and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of one of the best athletic programs in the state while working at St. Marys.”
Moor, a St. Marys resident, is married with three grown children and Sylvia the boxer. He enjoys sports, fishing and hunting, and traveling, and “enjoying my grandchildren.”
