"Footworks" to Perform in New Bremen
New Bremen -- Lock One Community Arts is proud to bring to our area Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble. The 12-member company will bring its toe-tapping, hand clapping rhythmic music and dance review to the James F. Dicke Auditorium on October 10, 2004.
This playful and spirited dance troupe led by Eileen Carson weaves live music, storytelling, comedy, singing and dance forms into a thoroughly entertaining package. An engaging show that takes the audience on a journey though dance styles and cultures, introducing everything from Celtic jigs and reels, tap, clogging, hamboning, hoofin to an outrageously inventive dance “inspired by daily life, work shoes and tools.
A full-time company since 1979, Footworks has delighted audiences of all ages and cultures in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan. They have thrilled audiences as guest artists in the London run of the hit show Riverdance selling out its own five week tour of the UK a few months later. They have performed in such venues as The Kennedy Center, The Lincoln Center, and The National Theater; at festivals such as The Smithsonian American Music Festival, Makuhari Mess, Japan, and Mayfest 1994, Glasgow, Scotland. They have also appeared on television with The National Symphony Orchestra as well as appearances on The Today Show and Entertainment Tonight.
