Welcome to The Memorial High School Class of 1972 Trust
The clock is ticking, beginning June 22, 2002.
a.k.a. The Trust
It will be set up as a trust. We will call it a trust. But let us be clear about it: this is a Tontine, and this is how it works. We all pay into it for the rest of our lives, and then we die.

Rules, Rules
One US Dollar per year, every year, starting at graduation. $30 to buy in. If $1000 is not accumulated within one year, the money will be applied to the next reunion or returned and The Trust will be cancelled. Funds will be administered by the St. Marys Community Foundation if The Trust begins successfully.
Every classmate signing up and paying before June 22, 2003 will be eligible for 100% of the Benefit Award, and will owe only One US Dollar per year to maintain Good Standing. Those not participating by June 22, 2003 will be penalized 2% of Benefit Award eligibility for each year of delay, and will pay an additional One US Dollar per year of delay.

EXAMPLE: Beginning participation at the 35th Class Reunion, after a five year delay, will cost $30 through 2002, plus $5 per year for five years of delay, for a total of $55, with a yearly fee of Five US Dollars to remain in Good Standing, and an ultimate Award eligibility of 90% of the total, the remaining 10% to be donated to the St. Marys Community Foundation.
Tontine fees will be collected at Reunions every five years, and may be paid into the future as desired. Fees through the 80th Reunion will be accepted. No Refunds Ever Period.
Participants who lose their Good Standing status will be expelled, but will be permitted to buy back in at the current delay rate. Losing Good Standing at the 60th Reunion will cost $30 per year and lower Award eligibility to 40% of the total.
To maintain Good Standing, tontiners must:
  • Pay fees due, if any, during or prior to Reunions.
  • Notify next of kin of this agreement.
  • Notify Committee of change of address, phone, fax etc..
  • Submit your epitaph. Verse can be changed at any time.

The Benefit Award
If 100 MHS Class of 1972 classmates participate at start up and cooperate by maintaining Good Standing and dying at a uniform rate until one remains after fifty years, $5,500 in principle will have been deposited into The Trust. The last surviving classmate gets it all, assuming 100% eligibility. The accountants among us will no doubt be happy to estimate The Benefit Award value considering half-a century of compounded interest.
        Who’s in?
We're all gonna croak some day. Somebody oughta get something out of it.
