ST. MARYS -- Eagles Lodge pitchers Nick Ahlers and Greg Kuffner
combined to pitch a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over VFW
Clown Unit on the opening night of Minor League play
Wednesday, May 29.
Ahlers went the first three innings to get the win,
walking one, allowing one runner on an error on a
routine infield fly, and striking out 7. Greg Kuffner
got the save by going the last three innings, walking
three batters and striking out eight. The duo combined
to strike out 15 of the 23 batters they faced.
Mike Haubert, Geoff Frazier, and Andy Chaney had two hits a
piece to carry the offense. Chaney hit a shot to deep
center that missed by two feet of clearing the fence.
