Lima Marimba Ensemble Returns

MarimbaST. MARYS -- The Lima Marimba Ensemble makes a return appearance at the 2002 St. MarysRotary Club "Concert in the Park" series on Sunday, July 14, at 7 p.m. in Memorial Park Gazebo.

A traditional crowd favorite of the series, the Lima Marimba Ensemble has been together for over ten years. During that time, they have become one of West Central Ohio's most unique and popular ensembles with their renditions of jazz, popular, classical and calypso music. Past performances have included appearances at Summer Concert series in Findlay, Lima, Van Wert, Fort Recovery, Lewisburg, Rockford and St. Marys; guest artist appearances with the Lima Area Concert Band, Defiance College-Community Band, and area High School bands; and at the Lima Square Fair and OSU-Lima's Once Upon a Sunday. They have also performed at numerous church services, Lima Symphony Orchestra cultural and educational events, and many other community events in the West Central Ohio area. They also hope to release their first CD recording later this year.

Members of the ensemble are all members of the percussion section of the Lima Symphony Orchestra. They include: Jim Leaman, Mark Dieringer, and Mike McCormack of Lima; Tim Mattis of Findlay; Dane Newlove of St. Marys and Richard Sherrick of Rockford.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Memorial
High School Performing Arts Center.
