Stamco Awards WSU-LC Scholarships

Pictured, left to right, are 2nd year scholarship recipient Lisa Core, Wapakoneta; Assistant Professor Brent Campbell; Stamco Vice-president and General Manager Patrick M. Flaherty, and 1st year scholarship recipient Ryan Evers of Ft. Recovery.

Stamco, New Bremen, has again provided two $1,000 mechanical engineering technology scholarships at the Lake Campus of Wright State University. Recipients for the 2002-03 academic year are 1st year student Ryan M. Evers, Ft. Recovery, and 2nd year student Lisa D. Core, Wapakoneta. Making the presentation for Stamco was Patrick M. Flaherty, Vice-president and General Manager.

Evers, the son of Ralph and Irene Evers of Ft. Recovery, is enrolled in the manufacturing option of the mechanical engineering technology program at the Lake Campus. In addition to full-time classes, Evers works part-time for Ft. Recovery Equipment.

Core, the daughter of Hugh and Marilyn Core of Wapakoneta, is in her second year of the computer aided drafting option in the mechanical engineering technology program. She has so far earned more than 60 hours and has a 3.89 GPA. Lisa will graduate with an associate’s degree in June 2003.

To qualify for the scholarship, an individual must be enrolled full-time at the Lake Campus in the mechanical engineering technology major. Stamco each year awards two $1,000 scholarships – one to both a 1st and 2nd year student.

Says Brent Campbell, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students and for the Lake Campus. Stamco has been very generous for several years now, and the Engineering Technology students benefit directly. Educational support like this from local industry is so important. It now only shows the values that Stamco holds but also supports higher learning.”

For information regarding these and other scholarships and grants available at the Lake Campus contact Thomas A. Knapke, Assistant Dean for Development, 419-586-0389 or 1-800-237-1477, extension 8389 or Sandy Gilbert in the student services office, 419-586-0336.
