Lake Campus Dean Honored

A recent reception at the Wright State University Dayton Campus recognized new university appointments and promotions, including that of Dr. Curry-Jackson, new Lake Campus Dean.

Also recognized were newly appointed University Librarian Dr. Stephen Foster, and the appointment and promotion of Dean of the School of Professional Psychology Dr. John R. Rudisill, and Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics Dr. Michele Wheatly.

In recognizing Curry-Jackson, WSU President Dr. Kim Goldenberg said, “With more than 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Anita Curry-Jackson has been appointed the new Dean of Wright State University’s Lake Campus. Although new to the Lake Campus, Anita has been part of the Wright State family since 1987, serving as a faculty member and chair of Social Work.

"She also served as the Wright State University’s coordinator for the Ohio Board of Regents Student Achievement and Research and Scholarship STARS Program that has been an enormously successful program throughout Ohio. An accomplished scholar, she has been the principal investigator for a number of grants and publications related to children and youth, critical thinking, mental health, and community assessment.

"On a personal note, Anita has a wonderful reputation for forging strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community members. As the new Lake Campus dean, I am sure she will continue to foster that same collaborative spirit and build up the wonderful partnership between our two campuses."

Curry-Jackson is an active member of professional organizations, serving as president-elect of the National Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Director (BSW) and as co-principal investigator of the Geriatric Curriculum Enrichment Project and a Frontline Supervision Training Grant with Montgomery County Department of Job & Family Services.

During the recognition ceremony and echoing introductory comments made by Dr. Perry Moore, Wright State University Senior Vice President and Provost, Goldenberg noted that the university is “very fortunate to have an exceptionally talented leadership team that is helping the university to soar and helping to build on a history of excellence in their respective areas and for the university as a whole.”
