Strickland/Stoneco Scholarship Awarded
Wright State University Lake Campus is pleased to announce that Stoneco, Inc., Celina, has again endowed the Kenton E. Strickland/Stoneco $600 award scholarship at the campus for the 2002-2003 academic year. This years winner is Nicholas M. Bruns of Ft. Recovery.
Stonecos salesperson Rick Bachelor indicated when the award was established that the scholarship was made in appreciation for all Ken has done for us over the years. He has been coming to the quarry for a long time. Whenever we have groups visiting groups, whether school classes or scout groups or other visitors, Ken is always here to explain the geology of the quarry and to help in identifying fossils that visitors find.
The $600 award is available to entering, returning, or current students of the Lake Campus enrolled in a science program or science course and is given on the basis of need and academic records.
Stoneco, Inc. also has a quarry office in the Van Wert area, located in Scott.
Scholarship applications for the 2003-2004 academic year will be available for pick-up January 6, 2003, at the Lake Campus financial aid office or at your local high school guidance office.
