Anonymous Gift Benefits Local Youth Baseball

HelmetAn anonymous benefactor has purchased 96 new batting helmets and donated them to the St. Marys National Little League. The gift was made known to the League at a recent Board of Directors meeting.

As a result of someone's generosity, each Minor League (ages 9-10) and Little League (ages 11-12) team in St. Marys will receive six new helmets this season. The value of the 96 helmets is $1364.90.

"We were blown away by the generosity of this gift," SMNLL Secretary Chris Botkin commented. "Even the timing was perfect. We're gearing up for the summer now, and will be making our equipment replacement decisions soon."

Sign-ups for all four St. Marys youth baseball leagues are being held this Saturday and Sunday, January 18-19, in McBroom cafeteria. Hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. The same hours are repeated next weekend also, January 25-26, also at McBroom cafeteria.

Visit the St. Marys National Little League web site for more information.
