ST. MARYS, OHIO -- Blueswater Productions and the Riverside Bluesfest Committee are pleased to announce that the Jimi Vincent Band has been scheduled to perform at the 2008 Riverside Bluesfest music festival Saturday, Aug. 30, at K.C. Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio.
Formed in 1989, the Jimi Vincent Band has a motto of “Nothin’ but the blues.” A favorite of blues fans throughout the Midwest, the Jimi Vincent band has shared the stage with some of the blues’ biggest names, and was selected to compete earlier this year at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
The rockin’ blues quartet is headed up by front man and guitarist Jimi Vincent, who has been playing guitar since the age of 5. The band also includes Sam Romangnoli on keyboards, Dustin Smith on drums, and bass player Bob Dutton.
The Jimi Vincent Band will be one of six acts to perform at the second annual Riverside Bluesfest. The opening act will be the winner of the 2008 Bluesfest Challenge. The rest of the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Riverside Bluesfest is a celebration of the Blues music genre, held annually during Labor Day weekend at K.C. Geiger Park in St. Marys, Ohio. The celebration includes live music, food, refreshments and related activities in a family-friendly atmosphere. A production of the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Committee, the Riverside Bluesfest is a not-for-profit event with proceeds going toward the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Fund.
This year’s festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, with gates opening at 11 a.m. Music begins at noon and continues to 11 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Memorial Day and will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. The 2008 Blues Challenge continues March 16, at the C & C Loft and Lounge in St. Marys featuring “Big Worm and the Nightcrawlers” going up against the “Jon Justice Band.” The final semi-final round is slated for April 13 at the Moose Lodge in Celina. The winners from each of the four semifinal rounds will battle in the Blues Challenge Finals May 18, at the Eagles Lodge in St. Marys. The winning band will be the opening act at the 208 Riverside Bluesfest.
