MHS Band Hall of Fame Members Sought
As a way of honoring former MHS students who have continued their instrumental music experiences after graduation from High School, the St. Marys Band Parents Organization is announcing applications for the 2001 class of the "Memorial High School Band Hall of Fame." Criteria for membership in the Hall of Fame is as follows:
• must be a graduate of Memorial High School, regardless of year;
•must have been enrolled in the Memorial High School band program at the time of high school graduation, and;
• must have performed with a college band, orchestra, or chamber ensemble for at least one quarter or semester during their college career; or, in a community, civic, or military instrumental music organization.
These members will have their names listed on a plaque as well as given a certificate signifying their membership in the Hall of Fame.
Any eligible MHS graduate or their parents, particularly graduates of 1999 and 2000, are encouraged to contact Director of Bands Dane Newlove at the High School Band office with the following information:
• name (as it is to be listed on the plaque);
• year of HS graduation, and;
• the college or university they performed with. Some verification of college performance will be required, such as a program, picture of performance group, letter of recommendation, etc.
Newlove may be reached at the music office at 394-5119 during the school day, or a letter should be sent to his attention at the high school with the necessary information. All information should be submitted by Tuesday, January 16. The presentations of the Hall of Fame awards will be on Sunday, January 21, at the High School Winter Band Concert.
