MHS Symphonic Band, Choir Earn "I" Ratings

ST. MARYS - Congratulations to the Memorial High School Symphonic Band and Choir, as both received a superior rating at the District III Ohio Music Education Association Large Group contest held at Van Wert High School this weekend.

The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dane Newlove, performed in Class B on Friday evening and received three superior ("I") ratings and one excellent ("II") rating for a total rating of superior.

The Symphonic Choir, directed by Jane Moheyer, received all four superior or "I" ratings during their Class B performance on Saturday. Both groups will advance to the State Large Group contest, held at Shawnee High School in late April.

The MHS Concert Band, directed by Rebecca Anderson, and the Concert Choir, directed by Jane Moheyer, both received overall excellent ("II") ratings for their performances, with each group receiving a superior rating from one of the four judges.

Congratulations to the over 170 Memorial High School musicians who performed this weekend at the event, and good luck to the Symphonic Band and Choir as they strive for a superior rating at State Contest!

Thanks, Mr. Newlove
