Volunteer Readers Sought
ST. MARYS -- Adult volunteers are needed to help improve students' reading at East Elementary School in St. Marys.
The volunteers are needed for the OhioReads Reading Program. The OhioReads grant, which is supported by Governor Bab Taft, is geared toward improving first through fourth grade reading skills through a one-on-one reading program after school.
This program meets in St. Marys on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45 - 3:30 p.m. in the East Elementary School Library and Cafeteria.
There are currently more than 50 third and fourth graders and 35 first and second graders who participate each week. Program coordinators are in need of many more adult volunteers to offer one-on-one reading to more students at East Elemntary.
Volunteer are sought for weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or substitute basis.
If you are interested in participating please sign up at East School or contact Mary Doseck or Chris Shroyer at 394-2616. Thank you so much for wanting to help improve East Elementary students' reading skills!
