The recognition transcript read over the park PA system follows:
Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in welcoming a lifelong friend of St. Marys baseball, Harold "Lefty" Hertenstein.
No one has been a more dedicated supporter of the game of baseball in St. Marys than Lefty Hertenstein. Lefty has actively participated St. Marys baseball in nearly every possible way, at every level.
As a star player, as a respected coach, as a parent and grandparent, as a groundskeeper for the K.C. Geiger Park Improvement Committee, and as a past Vice President of the St. Marys National Little League Board of Directors, Lefty has proven his commitment to St. Marys baseball again and again. When he has not been at the ball park in one of these capacities, Lefty has been here as a fan, thereby encouraging the players to not only a higher level of achievement on the field, but also a deeper respect for the game.
In recognition of, and appreciation for, long-time and continuing dedication to the game of baseball in St. Marys, the St. Marys National Little League Board of Directors is proud to present this commemorative plaque to Harold "Lefty" Hertenstein.
Lefty, take the ball, and show us how it's done.
