208 Graduate MHS in 77th Graduating Class
ST. MARYS - The Memorial High School Class of 2001 received their diplomas Sunday, May 27, in Baccalaureate and Commencement Exercises held in McBroom Gymnasium. The venue was filled on a cool, rainy afternoon to witness and honor the 208 member class, which included 43 students graduating with honors.
Valedictorian Andrew Fleagle gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Andrew is his class President and has received an appointment to West Point Military Academy. The other 2001 class officers are Vice President John Douglass, Secretary Angela Haines and Treasurer Adam Doenges.
Gabriel McKee presented the Address of Welcome. Superintendant Dr. Paul Blaine introduced the Reverend Keith Kivlin of the St. Marys First Presbyterian Church, who addressed the graduates with wry, succinct advice.

Principal Michael Makley and the St. Marys City Schools Board of Education, represented by President Grady Shaner, then presented diplomas to the graduates.
The Senior Choir Ensemble, led by Director of Choral Music Jane Moheyer and accompanied by Audrey Hirschfeld, sang an emotional rendition of "Let the Dream Begin" before leading the class and members of the audience in the Memorial High School Alma Mater. Salutatorian Nathan Hosek closed the exercises by giving the Benediction.
The MHS Symphonic Band led by Director Dane Newlove provided the traditional Processional and Recessional music.
