Summer Reading Club
July Activities Slated
ST. MARYS - Summer Reading Club activities continue at the St. Marys Community Public Library with Face Painting scheduled for July 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.; preschool storytime on July 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; a storytime and activity for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders on July 12 from 10 to 11 a.m., and a program on illustrating presented by local book illustrator, Mary Coons, for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at 1 p.m. on July 13.
Monday July 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the Young Adult group (anyone in grades 7 through 12) will play "Book Bocce" in Community Park, across the street from the library.
The following week is equally full with all ages invited to create chalk sidewalk art at the library on July 17, preschool storytime from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on July 18, and a slide show and talk by John Smith, entomologist from the Auglaize County Extension Office on the same day at 1:30 p.m. , for all ages.
Grades 1, 2, and 3 will have their final activity on July 19, from 10 to 11 a.m., and grades 4-8 may take part in one of two sessions, presented by computer teacher, Dixie Durkee, of Lego Robo Lab. In this program, the students will build a robot with Legos and program it to follow simple commands such as "walk" or "turn on a switch." These sessions are limited and available by registration only.
In the fourth week of July, final parties will be held, prizes awarded, and tokens exchanged at the "store" for prizes of choice. Please call (419) 394-7471 for more information or stop by the library at 140 S. Chestnut Street, in St. Marys.
