Alvin C. Glass
Alvin C. Glass, 79, of 603 North Augustus Street, St, Marys, Ohio, died 10:55 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio, following a brief illness.
He was born November 17, 1922, in Salem Township, Auglaize County, Ohio, a son of Walter and Hilda (Dohse) Glass.
On December 10, 1945 he married Vivian Lee Eberle, who survives.
Also survived by:
- daughter Anna (John) Armstrong of Wauconda, Illinois
- daughter Randi Glass of Fort Wayne, Indiana
- son Stephen Glass of Toledo, Ohio
- two grandchildren Nathan and Michael Armstrong of Wauconda, Illinois
- brother John Edward Glass of Celina, Ohio
- brother Don W. Glass of Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
Mr. Glass was a 1940 graduate of Memorial High School in St. Marys and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II.
He was retired ffrom the St. Marys Foundry, where he worked in electrical maintenance. He had also worked at the Weston Paper Mill, City of St. Marys Power Plant and Midwest Electric Cooperative.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, where he had served on the vestry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 210 North Wayne Street, St. Marys. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Long & Folk Funeral Home at 314 West High Street in St. Marys.
Memorials may be directed to either the Zion Lutheran Church or the Leukemia Society of America.
