John Patrick Lynch, 23, of 709 Gordon Grove, Saint Marys, was pronounced dead at 12:36 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2002, after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of State Rts. 66 and 33 near Saint Marys. He was apparently walking along the roadway and was struck by a vehicle, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
He was born December 29, 1978, in Saint Marys, the son of Robert and Denise (Hartung) Lynch. His father and step-mother, Robert and Sue Lynch survive in Saint Marys; his mother survives in Saint Marys.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a three year old son, Hunter Patrick Lynch of Celina; he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Kelly (Mitch) Burden of Saint Marys; by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hartung of Celina; by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Lyda Lynch; by his maternal grandfather, Darrell Hartung.
He was a 1997 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. He was employed by Lakeside Investment Corporation.
He had played on the Rams Midget Football Team as a child and later played high school football for the Saint Marys Roughriders. He enjoyed going fishing with his friends. He loved music, especially Metallica, and playing his guitar.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 23, 2002, at the Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, Father David Heinl, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the Long and Folk Funeral Home, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Serenity House, Sidney, Ohio.
