Miriam O. Brodnix, 75, of 800 Indiana Avenue, Saint Marys, and formerly of Mendon, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan, died 3:58 A.M. Monday, October 28, 2002, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born March 24, 1927, in Niagra Falls, New York, the daughter of Raymond and Orpha (Mears) Embury.
She married Charles R. Brodnix on October 23, 1948; he preceded her in death on June 27, 1975.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Suzanne (Michael) Hoelscher of Saint Marys; by grandchildren, Ashleigh and Charles Hoelscher of Saint Marys; Mrs. Neil (Amie) Dykeman of Dover, Delaware; Megan Stemen of Stafford, Virginia; Luc Hoelscher of Woodbury, Minnesota; Wayne Lutz of New Bremen. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sisters, Joyce VanMeer of Jackson, Michigan; Isabel Oldfield of Niagra Falls, New York. She is survived by one brother, Howard Embury of Florence, Oregon. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Pauline Embuary of Kenmore, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Doris Barry; one brother, Thomas (Mort) Embury.
Mrs. Brodnix was retired from the Mendon Branch of the First National Bank.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the Mendon Women's Civic Club; the Celina Order of the Eastern Star; Holy Rosary Hospital Guild #12; Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; the Saint Marys Friends of the Community Library.
She loved cooking, baking and reading.
Private family services will be held. Memorial donations may be directed to a college fund for her grandchildren in care of Miller Funeral Home, Saint Marys.
