Palm Coast, Florida. Lellis "Lee" Kaup, 46, of 5688 North Ocean Shore Blvd, was killed in an apparent homicide at his residence on October 30, 2002, after a neighbor attacked him in his home. The homicide suspect was arrested and is in custody in Flagler County, Florida, according to Flagler County Sheriff's Office Detective Rich Brandel.
Mr. Kaup was a former resident of Saint Marys, Ohio.
He was born July 20, 1956, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Sylvester and Mary (Longtin) Kaup. His father preceded him in death; his mother survives in Versailles, Ohio.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Sheila Coffield of Versailles, Ohio; Mrs. Ann (Phillip) Fett of New Carlisle, Ohio by two brothers, Ronald (Martha) Kaup of Defiance, Ohio; Robert (Sandy) Kaup of Celina, Ohio. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and by one brother, Stephen Kaup, who was also a murder victim.
Mr. Kaup was a 1975 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School, Saint Marys, Ohio. He was an avid hunter.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was formerly employed at Irish Electric in Saint Marys. He was working in the electrical contracting business in Florida.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, Ohio, Fr.David Heinl, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Saint Marys.
