William E. Engel

ST. MARYS, OHIO - William E. Engel, 92, of 205 North Front Street in St. Marys, Ohio, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday March 25, 2003 at the Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in St. Marys.

He was born November 17, 1910 in St. Marys, Ohio, a son of Frank and Elsie (Fickel) Miller.

On July 1, 1937, in Spencerville, Ohio, he married Lois O. Miller, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters: Sandra (Lee) Clausing and Rebecca (John) Davis, both of St. Marys, Ohio; four grandchildren: Lisa (Jack) Masonbrink, Jennifer (Steve) Ginter, Mark Davis and Melissa Davis; five great-grandchildren: Adam, Aaron and Andrew Masonbrink, Madison and Natalie Ginter; and a brother Robert "Rolo" Engel of Ft. Myers, Florida.

William was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; sisters Katharine McVay, Emilie Helms and Gertrude Smith; and brother Carl Engel.

He had been a projectionist for the St. Marys Theater, and later retired from the St. Marys Woolen Mills where he worked as a blanket weaver. He also owned the St. Marys Kiddie Shop for a number of years.

He was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ and a Golden Eagle member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #767, both in St. Marys, Ohio.

He served on the board of directors of the American Budget Company for 25 years.

William was an avid bingo player who enjoyed dining out with his wife.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday March 28, 2003 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Ohio Route 703 West in St. Marys. The Reverend Patricia Minnich will officiate. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
