Harold Ashman

ST. MARYS, OHIO - Harold R. Ashman, 80, formerly of 1015 Williams Street, Saint Marys, died 11:45 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, Saint Marys.

He was born February 7, 1923, in Celina, Ohio, the son of Harry and Erma (Berry) Ashman.

He married Dorothy Stone on December 22, 1945; she preceded him in death on February 14, 2000.

He is survived by three children: Mrs. Patricia (Gerald) Johns of Saint Marys; Richard (and Linda) Ashman of Saint Marys; Mrs. Diana (Don) Martin of Saint Marys.

He is survived by five grandchildren; Mrs. Melissa (Daniel) Elshoff of New Bremen; Mrs. Julie (Scott) Abraham of Bellefontaine; Mrs. Lisa (Ralph) Angstmann of Saint Marys; Mark Ashman of Dayton; Mandy Martin of Arlington, Virginia.

He is survived by 6 great-grandchildren, and by one sister, Madella Teeters of Celina.

He was preceded in death by three half-sisters, Ruby Swank, Helen Hayden and Margaret Crouch; by three half-brothers, Carl Ashman, David Ashman and George Ashman.

Mr. Ashman was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during WWII.

He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys after 42 years of service, where he had worked in the quality control department. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 767, Saint Marys.

His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Saint Marys, the Reverend David Heinl, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Saint Marys.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to either the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Piano Fund or the Activities Fund of the Valley Nursing Home.
