Ronald L. Wicker

ST. MARYS, OHIO - Ronald L. Wicker Sr., 56, of 230 N. Chestnut St., St. Marys, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born March 2, 1947, in Knott County, Ky., a son of Wilson and Sadie (Thornsberry) Wicker.

He married Lana Kay Chiles on June 22, 1968, and she survives in St. Marys.

He is survived by his three children, Ronald (Aimee) Wicker Jr., Angela (LeRoy) Ginter and Timothy Wicker, all of St. Marys; his three grandchildren, of whom he referred to as "his pearls," Rachel Nicole Ginter, Levi William Ginter and Alyssa Mari Wicker, all of St. Marys; and his siblings, Larry (Karen) Wicker, Tom (Angeline) Wicker, Terry (Kristine) Wicker, all of St. Marys, Jerry Wicker of Phoenix, Ariz., Patty (Donald) Brock of Celina and Dr. Peg (Gary) Meiring of Minster, and an adopted brother, Darrell Bayman.

He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Judy and Debby Wicker, and by his parents.

Mr. Wicker was a 1966 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.

He retired from the City of St. Marys Fire Department after 27 years of service as a firefighter/paramedic. He was also the owner of Wick's Appliance Clinic for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, reading the Bible, traveling and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Only Believe Ministries in Botkins.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. Bill Drummond and the Rev. Roger Channell officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
