ST. MARYS, OHIO - Audrey D. Hitchen, 94, of 510 W. South St., St. Marys, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Aug. 1, 1909, in Robinson, Ill., a daughter of John and Linnie (Kinman) Vanover.
She is survived by four children, Don (Marlene) Hitchen, Kenneth Hitchen and Susan Puthoff, all of St. Marys, and Dave (Marrilee) Hitchen of Genoa; a sister, Sylvia Skaggs of Stoy, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Julius Hitchen; a brother, Joseph Vanover; and three sisters, Opal Howell, Edith Rogers and Bonnie Browder.
Mrs. Hitchen moved to St. Marys in 1925. She retired from the Superior Tube Company in Wapakoneta after 22 years of service.
She was a published poet and she enjoyed flower gardening, working crossword puzzles and playing the organ and guitar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home.
