ST. MARYS, OHIO - Arthur L. Rogers, 81, of 618 W. High St., St. Marys, died at 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2003 at the Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 4, 1921 in St. Marys to Samuel and Ollie (Hammond) Rogers.
On Nov. 6, 1944, in Douglas, Wyo. he married V. Lucille Kilger, who survives.
He is survived by son Billy (Carol) Rogers of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Jeff, Paul and Anita Rogers; and two great-grandchildren, Jason and Austin Rogers.
Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dan and Robert Rogers, and six sisters, Florence Rogers, Virgil Smith, Mary Sheaks, Margaret Lauer, Icy Boltz, and Ruby Rogers.
Rogers was a retired crane operator from the St. Marys Foundry Co. Later, he worked as a janitor at the Moulton Elementary School and as a fuel attendant at the former Carl Wright's Truck Stop in Celina.
He was a veteran on the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
He was an avid bowler and sports fan. He was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in rural St. Marys.
Services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Miller Bros. Long & Folk Funeral Home at 314 W. High Street, St. Marys. The Rev. Dale Mangen will officiate. Burial will follow at the Neptune Cemetery in Neptune.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
